Will.i.am unveiled the cover for new Black Eyed Peas single “The Time (The Dirty Bit)” in the wee hours of the morning. It’s the first offering from upcoming BEP LP The Beginning, and Will noted on his Dipdive blog, “I am so excited about our new album… The Beginning is our departure to the new.” He also revealed some info about the Peas’ forthcoming music video. UPDATED: The full single has now been posted to Dipdive. Hear it below, Peas fans!

The cover of “The Time” displays the face of a blocky 8 bit watch. “We secretly shot our first video in L.A. last week before we left on our South American tour,” Will wrote, later adding, “I can’t wait till you experience all that we have been cooking up.”

Here’s “The Time (The Dirty Bit)”, which starts off with a tick-tock-like synth riff and then interpolates Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ duet “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack into the new club jam:

Hmmm. We know BEP are whipping out their second album within a year-and-a-half, but couldn’t they come up with something a bit more original? Come on—borrowing from yet another ’80s song? Really? (Don’t think we didn’t notice that melody from Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” in “Meet Me Halfway”!)

The Peas have been trekking all across the globe on their E.N.D. tour for the better part of 2010.

In addition to taking up production chores on three of the 12 songs featured on the forthcoming The Beginning, Will recently confirmed that David Guetta and DJ Ammo also lent their behind-the-board skills to songs for the Peas’ sixth LP.

The Beginning is due out November 30. Will you be picking up a copy?
