Nicki Minaj Tries To “Blow Your Mind” With A Darling Sample

October 23rd, 2010 // 3 Comments

It’s not Nicki Minaj’s fault that she’s the most in-demand featured guest in hip-hop. (So much so that her appearances are being faked). But the fashionable Young Money MC has more than a few solo tracks on the way. Check her new “Blow Your Mind” — built on a clever sample from Prince’s classic “Darling Nikki” and the Harajuku Barbie’s own tongue-twisting verses. “This is the anthem,” Nicki says. Let’s hear Jay Sean try to cover this one.

We dig the Missy Elliott-style beat, but Nicki sounds a little lackluster here. But there’s no need to wig out, Barbz. This is a jam from DJ Haze’s mixtape Still Countin’ Money 3, and there’s a good chance she’ll come with stronger material for Pink Friday. (In fact, she already has).

Wow, does she do any songs that dont sample other songs? Pretty sad… she’s so irritating!

  2. Shut Up_ im Right!

    very irritating..

  3. I_♥_samples ***k you got to say about it?

i hate how people who dont understand hip hop get upset when producers sample their favorite songs to make their own. Hip Hop was accidently discovered by Kool Herc who noticed while djing that the new york youth of the time enjoyed the instrumental drum breaks of songs, and began singling those portions out (sampling) to make his own mixes. Obviously sampling has evolved since then but i promise you…everyone producing music with samples today has a great appreciation for music of all genres including rock, classical and country, and a good majority of them (myself included) play real instruments ie clarinet, sax, piano, etc… and understand real music composition, including scales, chords, keys/ time signatures, and all that.
