A futuristic (and stylish) audience observes will.i.am and Nicki Minaj (and all their sets of doubles) in the video for their Buggles-sampling dance track,”Check It Out“, from the BET Hip-Hop Award winner‘s debut album, Pink Friday. But it’s hard to imagine how a phalanx of viewers could remain thoroughly impassive while Nicki comes up with her funniest facial expressions ever. The vid, directed by Rich Lee (Eminem’s “Not Afraid”), offers some cool visuals — we especially like the telescopic effect seen in the cloning of the backup dancers. Lee described the backdrop as a “weird, futuristic Korean TV show”, but we have to admit we expected a bit more of from this one beyond watching will and Minaj posing amid neon letters.
Thankfully, will.i.am decided to heed our request to skip the blackface he used during his and Nicki’s performance before the VMAs, though he instead went for (animated) whiteface:

I just love that Nicki Minaj however it wasn’t to long ago I was in praise of her “Your Love” music video for its lack of green screening but here we are again.
I was actually expecting alot more out of this video to, Nicki, looked great as usual but, the video as a whole was pretty boring and bland.
I’m loving this song regardless and, is anyone else thinking Nicki and Will work together better than him and Fergie?

Well, here’s the thing: It’s supposed to be in 3D: so we aren’t able to get the full affect of it since it’s in 2D through youtube. I’ve already blasted this video with my own video review on youtube as I didn’t like it either. It’s not a very creative video but I guess it’s what they wanted. And many people are saying it has to do with his working with 2ne1. Time will tell if this will go over well in the club. I did my part: i gave it a shot. Not worth my money.
