Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean’s duet, “Don’t You Wanna Stay“, was one of the bigger highlights from the 2010 CMAs (that didn’t include an Oscar winner adding a new hyphenate to her job title). Find out how this pairing between pop and country came to be by jumping below to watch Kelly and Jason recording their soon-to-be-a-hit track in the studio.

“Don’t You Wanna Stay” wasn’t originally a duet, but Aldean knew it had to become one the second he first heard the song. As for who would be featured on the track with him, “First words out of my mouth were ‘Kelly Clarkson, if we can get her.'”

Get her he did — and she did not disappoint. “The first notes out of her mouth were stupid good,” Aldean recounts.

Jason’s album My Kinda Party is out now. Kelly’s new LP will hit stores early 2011.
