It’s No Fantasy—Kanye West Is #1 On The Album Chart

When all was said and done, Kanye West’s fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ended up with 496,000 copies sold, enough to easily bump festive Scot Susan Boyle’s The Gift off #1 position on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week. And even though it’s a stretch from the 600,000 copies West hopefully boasted about last week, he still clinches his fourth consecutive #1 album. See how Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo and Ke$ha fared with their new releases below.

Nicki Minaj is the top female on this week’s album chart, coming in just behind her “Blazin'” collaborator Kanye at #2 with Pink Friday (375,000 copies). This bumps other top-selling ladies like Susan Boyle, Jackie Evancho and Rihanna down.

Justin Bieber’s My Worlds Acoustic (#7), My Chemical Romance’s Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys (#8) and Ne-Yo’s Libra Scale (#9) round out the final new entries in this week’s upper tier of the Top 200. And unlike last week, all of the albums in the Top 10 post sales of over 100,000 copies. (In fact, Billboard notes that the leading 12 LPs all sold over 100,000.)

Elsewhere, Ke$ha’s mini album Cannibal enters at #15 (74,000), while the Burlesque soundtrack, which features songs by Christina Aguilera and Cher, is at #18 (63,000).

Look for things to get shaken up next week with the debuts of the Black Eyed Peas’ The Beginning and the fourth volume of Glee: The Music.

Over on the Hot 100, Pink scores the third #1 single of her career with “Raise Your Glass”. Previously she topped the chart with 2008 offering “So What” and the 2001 collaborative cover of “Lady Marmalade from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack.

Pink co-wrote “So What” and “Raise Your Glass” with Max Martin and Shellback—both of whom she’s probably toasting upon this good news. (Of course, being an expectant mom, her glass is likely filled with apple juice.)
