Katy Perry’s “Firework” Shoots To #1

Despite a high-profile series of sketchy live performances of the song, Billboard reports that Katy Perry will jump to #1 with “Firework” on the new Hot 100 chart published tomorrow. The single now replaces Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” at the top. “Firework” is Perry’s third consecutive #1 single off her Teenage Dream album (following “California Gurls” and the LP’s title track), and you have to go back to 1998 and 1999 to find the last time a female artist scored three straight chart-topping radio singles off one album—it was Monica, with “The Boy Is Mine”, “The First Night” and “Angel Of Mine.” Flash back by watching the video for the latter—a total jam, in our book—below.
