She may not have been voted the next American Idol, but Crystal Bowersox came pretty close – and continues to prove that her runner-up status won’t deter her from a promising career. Despite a folksier, coffeeshop vibe on Fox’s star-making machine of a TV show, Bowersox is heavily leaning country for her debut album, out December 14. Last night, Lee DeWyze’s one-time nemesis crooned the title track on The Tonight Show — and yes, “Farmer’s Daughter,” complete with Bowersox’s twangy delivery, is so appropriately named she might as well have been milking a cow on stage while singing.
Check out a country star in the making here.
There’s a timeless quality to her voice that gets us every time.
What did you think of her performance?

`I wouldn’t expect any less from the lovely miss Bowersox, stellar performance of a wonderful song. Cant wait for this album next week cant come soon enough!
She’ll sell records to fans from Idol and maybe the emo followers that are looking for songs about women surviving abusive parenting. A horrible choice for a first release from an unknown talent. It’s truly a shame because there’s some wonderful songs on this cd. I’d have released Mason.
the exultant part of the song “when you broke my bones i told the school i fell down the stairs.” I don’t think many copies of Farmers Daughter are going to be in the stockings of teenaged girls two weeks from now. It’s a shame that Crystal is so wreckless with her opportunity. This could be the beginning of a great career.
I completely disagree with you, I think it’s a great choice, and will strike a chord in a lot of people!! It’s a shame everyone wants to sweep abuse under the rug, that’s why it’s gone on so long….time to get it front and center and put an end to it once and for all!!
God Bless you Crystal! Fantastic!! Love, love, love this song!!
Not a fan, her songs are very old school! She would have been popular 20 years ago!
her songs may be from an era of singer songwriters, but meow is the time to return that style, people are getting tired of the over manufactured creations of today
I loved her the first time I heard her, and love her even more now. This song is so relevent for today’s swept under the rug problems. I cried when I first heard it. Not often does an artist express so well the burden they have. I am so sick of the screaming vulgar nonsense I’ve been listening to for so long. I swithced back to country and easy listening just to gain my sanity.
