BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat got a bit of airtime with Lady Gaga while backstage at her recent London 02 Arena gigs, and the Santa-hating singer gave a few details about her upcoming album Born This Way and its lead single. Get the latest scoop on Gaga’s third release after the jump. “Well, the new single is going to come out sometime in February, and shortly after that I’ll release the album,” Gaga told Newsbeat’s Greg Cochrane. “It’s finished and all. I’m just fine-tuning everything. It’s kind of like the post-operative stage of the album. I’ve already done the full heart surgery. I’m just sewing myself back up again.”

When asked how the album is different from her previous release The Fame Monster (which is up for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album Grammys), Gaga said, “I think that lyrically it’s more poetic. It’s, in a very strange way, the marriage of electronic music with these sort of major, epic—I dare to even say metal, rock ‘n’ roll, pop, anthemic style—melodies with really, really sledge-hammering dance beats. It’s definitely the most innovative of all the music I’ve done so far.”

She wrapped up her short interview by stating that “most importantly, [Born This Way] was really written by the fans. I mean, they really wrote the music for me because every night they’re funneling so much into me. So I wrote it for them. Born This Way is all about little monsters and me, Mother Monster.”

Written by the fans, eh? That’s a lot of royalties to pay out, LG. What do you say, little monsters—does Lady Gaga’s incite to her new album have you excited for its release?
