Forbes revealed their list of Hollywood’s 20 highest earners of 2010, including Beyoncé as the highest-earning pop star, earning an estimated $87 million. Other Forbes‘ regulars Britney Spears ($64 million), Lady Gaga ($62), Madonna ($58), Miley Cyrus ($48), and Taylor Swift ($45) also made the cut. Even more impressive, Britney and Madonna didn’t even have any albums, tours, films or singles that dropped this past year (though they did have perfumes, gyms, and Glee episodes dedicated to them, so that helped). @Becky Bain, bad journalism is a really dangerous thing. You are the proof of that adage. These Forbes figures are for the year starting on June 1, 2009 going through to June 1, 2010. So, for example, Britney Spears, did have both a tour and a new album in the second half of 2009! These figures were about these pop stars were first published in June 2010. Forbes has simply repackaged them for the end of the year without updating the actual figures. However, I’m sure if you had taken the time to read Forbes’ fine print, you would have learned that the figures were not for the year 2010, but for the year June 1, 2009-June 1, 2010. If you had a halfway decent editor your mistake would have been caught before you made a fool of yourself in public, but I guess you don’t have a decent editor.
You are right – the initial list was posted on Forbes’ website back in June, although news outlets (in addition to us) are just picking it up now thanks to Extra TV’s article which was posted just a few days ago. However, you don’t think it’s still impressive how far up Britney and Madonna are on the list despite not doing a whole lot in 2010 in regards to releasing music or touring?

Well, exactly – she was a featured artist on “Telephone”, which counts. Plus she released her ‘I Am… World Tour’ DVD (not to mention dropping her video for “Why Don’t You Love Me”). So she wasn’t exactly silent in 2010 in regards to releasing new material.
