While the Black Eyed Peas are set to tackle a live halftime performance during Super Bowl XLV at Arlington, Texas’ new Cowboys Stadium, it was announced today that Burlesque babe Christina Aguilera will be the one to belt out the National Anthem before the game kicks off. The Pittsburgh Steelers (who beat the New York Jets yesterday with a little musical aid from Wiz Khalifa) will face off against the Green Bay Packers at the February 6 event, so it makes total sense to have Xtina—who spent her formative years in the Pittsburgh suburb of Wexford—along for vocal support. “I have been performing the Anthem since I was 7 years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” Aguilera said. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.” [Via ESPN]
