We assumed that Michael Jackson’s children appearing on TV to talk about their father and how they’ve been coping since his death in June 2009 was a one-off thing with Oprah, at least for a few more years — but it appears that interviews with the media are becoming a semi-regular thing. Paris, Prince and Blanket, along with Michael’s mother Katherine, appeared on Good Morning America to discuss their lives without their father. Watch a preview below.
When Robin Roberts asked the Jackson children what they’d like to do, Paris echoed what she told Oprah — that she’d like to become an actress. “I’m thinking about auditioning for a play next week,” she says.
Prince’s goal was a bit more vague, but heartfelt: “Continue what our dad was doing.”
Being that it isn’t even yet the two-year anniversary of Jackson’s death, we’re a little iffy on why we’re being invited into their lives now. Besides, you know, ratings, since Jackson is just as popular — and profitable — as ever.
The full interview airs on Good Morning America tomorrow.

That’s so cute good luck 2 them
The children are wearing Heal the World sweatshirts, which is now run, illegally, and against the wishes of Michael’s estate, by a woman who is partnered with Katherine Jackson’s business partner, the same Mann who runs a business selling Michael’s possessions (with the apparent blessings of Katherine Jackson). Where is their legally appointed guardian ad litem to protect their interests from exploitation. This is something Michael would never have approved; why is every program which uses Michael’s family and children always on ABC? It started with Bashir and is still going on. I can’t believe their own grandmother would CONTINUE to allow these children to be exploited. What is she expecting to see? A big breakdown on their part. It will never happen as their father was “the best daddy ever”. He protected his children and it’s so sad to see what’s happening now.
poor michael, he always protected his children, and now this: on tv every month. so sad
I saw the interview this morning. Michael taught his children very well. They are stronger than you think; in fact, Michael was stronger than you think. Just from seeing them today with the self-confidence, interacting with the children at the center, and sharing about what they’d like to do, Michael would be smiling one of his famous smiles as a very proud father. If you haven’t seen the interview, I would suggest that you watch it if you can find it. Given who these children are, it is much better for them to deal with the media, etc. now, instead of being isolated and then be thrown into the spotlight. They are getting in their “growing up years” what Michael did not get the opportunity to have. As I said, Michael taught them well; don’t sell him short. His legacy will continue as well as his children will make their own marks in this world. I can’t wait to see what they will do.
This is outrageous! The children are being paraded on TV, not for their own worth, but because they are Michael Jackson’s children, and people expect that they will be oddities. They are being used as promotional tools by Mann and Mrs. Jackson, and it smacks of exploitation, particularly as their father did so much to keep them out of the public eye while he was alive. Maybe Katherine Jackson doesn’t know any better – it’s the way she raised her own, by thrusting them into the limelight to get on with being in a showbiz family, regardless of whether or not that’s what they really wanted. It’s the Jackson way of life and she obviously hasn’t learnt anything from what happened to Michael. Being hounded and ridiculed by the media is certainly not what he wanted for them – someone needs to step in and stop this now, before three more lives are ruined by public scrutiny and the malice of the press.
