Who knew the “It Gets Better” campaign would become a musical genre in the pop world? There’s been a copious amount of new songs out recently that touch on either celebrating your individuality (Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R”, Pink’s “Raise Your Glass”) or blasting your critics who try to put you down (Sky Ferreira’s “Haters Anonymous”, Taylor Swift’s “Mean”). Selena Gomez manages to do both in her new single “Who Says”, which premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning. Listen below.

Who says you’re the only one who’s hurting?” sings Selena on the tune that sounds more Taylor Swift-ian than not. “Trust me / That’s the price of beauty / Who says you’re not pretty / Who says you’re not beautiful / Who says.” Looks like Selena dropped her club vibe present on “A Year Without Rain” and is going the genuine, organic self-empowerment route, encouraging young people to stop hating and start loving. Are you listening, all you bitter Beliebers?
