Relax, Cookies—the wait for new music from David Cook is almost over. The Season 7 American Idol winner first teased us with a video of him in the studio playing new music (supposedly from his second post-Idol LP) back in early January. And today Cook took to his Twitter account to drop a few more tidbits of info. “The official press release is supposed to come out tomorrow, but I’m impatient, so let me be the first to tell you,” the 28-year-old crooner tweeted. “The first single of my new album will be ‘The Last Goodbye’! It will be released on April 19th! Can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”

When last we heard from David, he had recorded a cover of Simple Minds’ 1985 hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” which was intended to be an American Idol send-off song as contestants are booted this season. But come to think of it, we only heard it, like, once on the show.

Also, Cook’s 2008 single “Light On” was included on the recently-released American Idol 10th Anniversary — The Hits compilation. But who even bothered to pick up that snoozefest?

Are you ready for some new music from this guitar-playing AI champ?
