MTV’s Jim Cantiello was on a Skype video chat with Kris Allen when a special visitor popped onto his screen — Matthew Morrison! Kris had apparently snuck into Matt’s trailer in Los Angeles, and the two singers, who had just collaborated in a song for Morrison’s debut album, finally got to meet one another. See the two guys discuss “Still Got Tonight” below.

Similar to the situation with “Airplanes” where Hayley Williams and B.o.B had never even met despite being featured on the same song, Matthew and Kris finally met after the song (which Kris co-wrote) was already recorded.

“It’s actually a funny story,” Matthew explains. “I got my hands on the song. It was an amazing song, and I didn’t find out until a little later on that Kris was a writer on it”It was kind of strange, ’cause he didn’t know either that I had done it.”

“I had no idea,” Kris added. “I got an email from the other writers saying ‘Urgent, urgent,’ and then I read it, and it said that Matthew Morrison was going to sing the song, and I was pretty stoked about it. That’s why we’re here today. We thought we’d hang out.”

“We thought we’d hang out and actually meet each other and say, ‘Hey, you’re cool,’ and he said, ‘I’m cool,’ so we’re cool with each other,” Morrison said.
