Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon Welcome Twins

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon (one of our other favorite royal couples) enjoyed their third wedding anniversary with a special gift today — twins. As they sort of hinted, the couple welcomed a boy and girl, Carey’s representative told the Associated Press. We bet her opera-trained mother is singing arias of joy. Details of the newborns (who will always be her babies) below.

According to information provided to the AP, Carey gave birth at 9:07 a.m. Pacific time at a hospital in Los Angeles after Cannon shuttled her over in their Rolls Royce Phantom. (Carey had evidently endured false labor before, and thought it was another false alarm.) But Cannon must’ve sense it was real this time — he was so nervous he headed to the wrong department before being shepherded over to the maternity ward, according to Carey’s publicist, Cindi Berger.

Carey welcomed the girl first (she weighed 5 pounds, 3 ounches and was 18 inches long. Carey’s baby boy followed at 5 pounds, 6 ounches and measured 19 inches long. Berger reported that the couple were listening to Carey’s smash “We Belong Together” after the children were born. (No “Vision Of Love”? No “Emotions”? Isn’t this a time for the classics?)

Berger said the couple had not named the children as of yet.

We couldn’t be happier for Carey and Cannon (who apparently still plan to renew their wedding vows tomorrow). Neither could Nicki Minaj, hitmakers Rodney Jerkins and Jermaine Dupri, and her old pals in Boyz II Men, who all sent congratulatory tweets.

Sure, everyone enjoyed seeing Mariah (and her still-in-the-oven bun) pose in the buff on the cover of two different magazines. But she had to have the kids sometime. And, not to be selfish, but we wouldn’t mind hearing a new jam from her this year. Because we feel a little awkward still playing “Oh Santa!”
