Contrary to initial reports, Lady Gaga‘s video for “Judas”, the second single from Born This Way, did not cost $10 million dollars to make. Even if the clip for the religion-skewed romance dance track cost Gaga two shiny pennies, we’d still be head over lobster claws waiting to see what visual delirium she’s come up with this time (especially since she co-directed “Judas” with her creative director Laurieann Gibson). Now’s the time, little monsters — watch the makeup-gun-toting pop star’s latest creation.
“I want to allow the video to speak for itself but I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle Fellini movie where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem,” Gaga explained to MSNBC about the video. “And I play Mary Magdalene leading them into the town where we meet Jesus and I will leave the rest for you to see. But it’s meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.”

Um, Marilyn Manson did not invent stoning. Anyway, the video was awesome. It’s probably her best work, although I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Bad Romance because, in addition to being her best video to date at the time, it arrived just as she soaring above her peers and emerging as a major player in the music industry. The Born This Way video was very cool too, but was much more “artsy” and obviously didn’t please the general public who just wanted to see some boobs and funny outfits. This video really gets the balance of pop and art just right, just as Bad Romance did. A+!
By the way I love how her haters are always the first in line to comment, like they’re waiting eagerly for her to come out with something new so they can bash it, and yet they always claim they’re bored by her. Something doesn’t add up there. Also, if you still want to call her “Satanic” after watching this video, you need your head checked. The whole video was a love letter to Jesus for God’s sake.
