Jordin Sparks was only 17 years old when she crowned the Season 6 winner of American Idol, and now at the ripe old age of 21, she is declaring herself a woman. The newly-svelte singer has released a new single, “I Am Woman”, produced and co-written with Ryan Tedder, who also recently worked with other Idol champ David Cook on his new single. Listen to Jordin’s dance tune celebrating female empowerment and tell us if you feel a spark.

“I’m a woman, I’m a woman, yes I am / Ain’t nobody else can do it quite like we can,” busts out Ms. Sparks. This somewhat experimental, hand-clapping, high energy girl woman-power track is the most bangin’ thing we’ve heard from Jordin, well, maybe ever. It makes us want to strap on our stilettos and wobble-strut all over the dancefloor!

“‘I Am Woman’ is a song about different aspects of the lives of women,” the singer explained to AOL Music. “It could be a mother, a performer, a woman working in a corporate space — its all about what we go through as women and how our lives are so crazy. Walk a mile in my shoes, or in my stilettos, if you dare and see what happens. It’s all about the strengths that a woman has — how we can multi-task and carry so much, yet still always be on point when we need to be and on cue when we need to be. It’s all about the amazing-ness of a woman.”

Personally, we’re loving this new mature sound — are you? Tell us below.
