After taking a political stand with his “Words I Never Said” video, Lupe Fiasco hit up The Colbert Report last night to perform the Lasers single with chorus crooner Skylar Grey and express his views on government power during a sitdown. “I’m a taxpayer, so it’s like that gives me a right to critique everybody,” Lupe said. Host Stephen Colbert then asked the rapper if the ultimate criticism would be to not pay his taxes. “But I’d be like Wesley Snipes then,” Fiasco quipped. Watch the one-on-one between Lupe and Stephen below. Colbert led the questioning to the war on terror, and the fact that the chart-topping MC is against such a notion — particularly in the wake of Osama Bin Laden’s death. “I don’t see an end to it,” Lupe said. After some ribbing by Colbert, Fiasco added, “We got one guy.”

Finally Lupe hit the stage, where he was joined by Skylar Grey, who was wearing a shredded jacket and came out full force with the powerful chorus to “Words I Never Said.”

Fiasco also spit out “I Don’t Wanna Care Right Now” for a special web-only performance on The Colbert Report.
