Jay Leno Ambushes Jennifer Lopez With Her New Kids On The Block Past

“I’m Into You” diva Jennifer Lopez is doing the promo rounds, as she’s got her new album Love? out and American Idol is beginning to wind down for the season. And granted, between her appearances on the Tonight Show last night and The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, there was plenty of Idol chatter. But it was the unearthed 1991 clip (courtesy of Jay Leno) of J.Lo’s very first dancing gig — doing some Running Man-type hip hop moves with New Kids On The Block on the American Music Awards — that took the cake. Watch below. PopEater, who posted the hilarious Tonight Show clip, quipped, “Dancing was so much more innocent back then, if this is any indication. Lopez has certainly come a long way in 20 years.” No kidding — can you imagine catching J.Lo performing in denim jeans now?

Naturally, Jennifer let out a shriek while squirming in her chair when Leno announced the show had possession of her scandalous back-up dancer footage. (J.Lo, girl, that floppy ponytail alone…)

Of course, any guest going onto the Tonight Show should know Jay’s prone to these kinds of shenanigans.

At least Jennifer’s one-on-one with Ellen — i.e. one of the Season 9 Idol judges she replaced this year — was far less excruciating. “Don’t you find it hard to say something every single time, especially when they’re good?” DeGeneres asked her. Her response: “Yes! I’m like, what am I gonna say?”
