What do you give for a first anniversary, paper? In that case, the folks at Billboard should prepare to exchange some seriously nice stationary with Katy Perry for her impressive feat of being the only artist in history to spend an entire year — that’s 52 weeks straight — in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

The desired down under pop star has racked up a #1 hit with every single thus far from her sophomore album Teenage Dream“California Gurls”, “Teenage Dream”, “Firework” and the Kanye-assisted remix to “E.T.” — and will more than likely score a fifth chart topper with her next single, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, especially if the video turns out as amazing as Katy’s 80s middle school makeover.

The last act to hold the record for longest consecutive appearances in the Top 10 is Ace of Base, who spent 48 weeks with tunes at the top. Anyone want to wager on the Swedish pop group reclaiming their honor with their forthcoming album? Anyone?
