“You had a lot crooks try to steal your heart / Never really had luck, could never figure out how to love,” yearns Wayne. Is this the same man who vowed to drop the world on my mother-effing head?
This is a serious departure from most of what we’ve heard from Wayne over the years. And, dare we say, we’re genuinely enjoying this sweet song and are impressed that the “6 Foot 7 Foot” rhyme-spitter could pull it off. Hey, if someone like happy-go-lucky crooner Matthew Morrison can get away with rapping on a semi-regular basis, then Weezy should be allowed to soften up for one song.
