Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina’s kiss during the American Idol finale won’t be the hottest thing to come out of Season 10. Producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (the man behind Lady Gaga’s “Telephone”, Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” and literally dozens more hit songs) has been given the task of writing and producing songs for Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and “Miss Most Shocking Eliminated Contestant” Pia Toscano.

“This was training for us producers,” Jerkins tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I wrote five country songs last week. It’s transformed not just the contestants but even the producer. Tricky [Stewart] produced that ‘Mama’ song for Lauren, and he said, ‘With this show, we’re not just urban pop guys anymore.’ George Strait can call me tomorrow and I’m ready to go!”

Jerkins, who has also worked with former Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, says he’s already recorded a few songs with Toscano, and that they plan to make “a big, diva-sounding record… It’s what I think I do best – that big Whitney, Mariah, Celine vibe. We’ve having fun with that.”

Which debut album are you most looking forward to? Scotty, Lauren or Pia’s? Tell us below! And don’t you think Rodney should pen a love duet for Scotty and Lauren to sing? (Just let us be in denial about the more-than-likely platonic status of these two teenagers’ relationship.)
