No, it’s not an April Fool’s joke this time — Kanye West’s “Monster” video has finally landed, and it’s as creepy as the unfinished version we spied way back in December suggested. The Jake Nava-directed, partially “Thriller”-inspired video has still got wolf-people and dead (and undead) ladies galore, Yeezy in a particularly unlively (and not at all gay) threeway, hands we’d definitely prefer not to see at a concert, plus Rick Ross and Jay-Z engaged in assorted beastly behavior. But our favorite remains dildo-waving diva Nicki Minaj holding herself hostage, a scene we know Lil Kim must be playing over and over. Watch it below.
Clearly the reason for the delay of “Monster” isn’t because it was being toned down on the gore and disturbing imagery. Even if the vid is ultimately deemed too gruesome for TV (and how could it not be?), there’s no denying there’s a lot of artistry at play here amidst the shudder-inducing visuals.
What do you think of the finished product? Has ‘Ye managed to top the Muppets?

What in the heck are you all doing featuring the Kanya video that has no talent, no music, horrible language, and no moral purpose. This is what is wrong with the world, you stupid people put this stuff out to the public and the young people think that is the way they are supposed to act. It is not wonder that we are in trouble in this country and it will not get better. You all should be put out of business for putting porn and bad videos on line. You are the problem.
If you think that, then you’re a moron.
It’s not the industry’s job to create things that will teach kids how to act. It’s their friggin’ parents’ job to do that. Our problem is not our media, our problem is that we’re too lazy to actually explain to our youth what is right and wrong. In the specific example you just gave, you mean to say that they should altogether stop making porn just so that kids don’t see it? Are you f-ing kidding me?! If we lived like that, EVERYTHING would be comprised of Teletubbies and My Little Pony. You, my friend, are ignorant and you need to open your eyes and your mind before you open your mouth.
What is this we-should-all-censure-in-life-and-close-our-eyes-on-arts speech ?
1) Produce misogynistic music video
2) Excuse away your misogyny on the basis of your aspirations to artistic grandeur
3) Write disclaimer (in the imperative mood, no less) commanding your audience to not criticize you
4) ????
5) profit!
also: this may actually rival ‘no homo’ in the Least Convincing Rap Proviso competition.
I think the song is Awesome…..ANd i do view this as art….If you take screen shots of every scene in the video..They look Awesome……His Album To me was Awesome..Stop saying hes talentless..LOl that a bunch of bull and u know it…Of COurse hes talented in many lvls….If u think that doesnt take talent…Then go do it!
the song is off the chain so i think its a+++++++++ so yall f*** haters sit yall A** down
If you seriously think Kanye has not talent, you are blinded by stupidity. Just because this isn’t your type of music… doesn’t mean it isn’t appreciated. Kanye is an asshole… yes…. but to discredit his talent is silly. “Art” (as I’ve decided to call this video…) is not what’s wrong with the world. Yes, young people are influenced by music. But they are ALSO influenced by half the crap and vulgarity they put on TV today, their parents, THE WRONGS THEY SEE ON A DAILY BASIS, and people like you. Are you doing anything to help this country? If you consider your post an effort to make this world a better place… you are sadly mistaken.
