Avril Lavigne Wants To Release “More Fun” Pop Album Soon

Avril Lavigne’s #1 fan The Prophet stumbled upon some news that will surely make the MuchMusic Video Awards performer‘s loyal followers “smile” — she’s been quietly readying her fifth LP behind the scenes, and it’s only been three months since Goodbye Lullaby was released. Of course, the latter album failed to garner much in the way of sales or smash singles (aside from modest hit “What The Hell”). Read what Av had to say about her upcoming record below! Lavigne conducted a short Skype interview with her fansite Avril Lavigne Bandaids, and the topic turned to her next LP. “I already have 8 songs!” she announced. The Prophet points out that Avril previously recorded material with current hit-maker Alex Da Kid and other pop-leaning producers for Goodbye Lullaby, which obviously didn’t make the cut for the record. Whether or not these are the songs she’s referring to here in this interview remains unclear.

“I would like to release the 5th album really quick,” Lavigne says. “This record [Goobye Lullaby] was more mellow, and the next one will be pop and more fun again. I already have a song that I know is going to be a single, I just need to re-record it!”

She would be smart to do a quick turnaround and get new songs out there in the wake of her latest album’s lackluster performance. (See Rihanna, post-Rated R, and Britney Spears, post-Blackout.) Plus, total bonus — Britney Spears’ hair in her “I Wanna Go” video is there to keep Avril in the public consciousness in the meantime!

Are you excited about the prospect of a brand new album from Avril Lavigne so soon after Goodbye Lullaby?
