Listen To The Studio Recording Of Pia Toscano’s Single “This Time”

pia toscanoPia Toscano may have been the early-eliminated shining star of American Idol’s 10th season, but we all know that impressing people on the show and convincing them to buy your music once the season is over are two very different things. Pia performed her debut single, “This Time”, while on the road with the American Idols Live! tour, but now we get the studio recording compliments of Ryan Seacrest. Does the newest member of the Interscope family have what it takes to join the ranks of pop’s finest? Listen to her new single below.

The song was written by Ester Dean (Rihanna’s “Rude Boy”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”), and produced Dean and Brian Kennedy.

We actually wish “This Time” was a bit more uptempo and dancey, but hey, this is the same girl who was Season 10’s MVB (Most Valuable Balladeer), and at least this inspiring midtempo tune has a bit of sass to it. (Starting off your track with “I’m as mad as hell and won’t take it anymore” is one hell of an opening line.) Oh, and did we mention the fact that Pia sounds pretty terrific?

Are you pumped up for Pia’s debut album after hearing her lead single?

    Great vocals but no.

Great song. Very good vocals. Can’t wait to hear an album from her. Good Job Pia!

It’s growing on me, but I feel like the guitar backtrack is too far in the background. The song would have been nicer if the guitar backtrack would be louder, so there would be a recognizable sound to it. Right now, it’s just her singing (what seems) a little too loud over the backtrack. But that could just be the quality of the video.

  4. I think its a good song, but it doesn;t do much for me as a lead single, It sounds more like the last single of an album, but man does she have a fantastic voice…I hope she is successful.

  5. Love it and LOVE Her!

  6. This song is a pretty good, one issue I have with it and I hate to take it there but it feels like a Jordan Sparks song. Its not a bad thing but I need a little more from her, vocally speaking shes the single best new female artist the industry has seen since Leona Lewis, and shes only just begun.

This is good, but its too safe a little on the generic sing and simplt does not stand out. I have high hopes for her

It’s good, but i think they could have done better. I think it’s a good teaser. I have no doubt there will be more impressive songs on the album.

  8. good song, but artists should be songwriters too-cuz that proves youve got more than just a Voice. American Idol is a horrible example of that because it focuses on ‘if u got a good voice-you can be a star’. Star-power is broad talent.
