Tony Bennett is pulling out all the stops for Duets II, enlisting the help of over a dozen heavyweight music acts to appear on the compilation, released in conjunction with his 85th birthday. An artist from practically every genre of music swings by to sing with the legendary crooner — there’s classical musicians like Andrea Bocelli, pop warblers like Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse, and even country gem Carrie Underwood (nominated for Female Vocalist Of The Year at the 2011 CMAs) lends her silky vocals to a song first published in 1924, the torch song “It Had To Be You”. I have been in and around music all my life and I am amazed at the quality of Tony’s voice at 85. Wow!!! Underwood is an amazing vocalist and will fit into any genre of music. She IS the voice of this generation. Beautiful duet by two amazing artists.

Umm Jill quick question…are you one of Taylor swift stupid tween fans? Cause you sound like one. First, If Tony wanted a stupid love song or someone that requires auto-tune to hit all her high notes, then we would see Taylor Swifts name in his duet’s album. Secondly, if you haven’t noticed this is a cd with HIS songs, not someone else’s. And third, if you can’t stand Carrie Underwood then why are you here, what are you doing reading about her, or maybe even searching for her.
Absolutely beautiful! Tony still has it at 85 and Carrie’s voice is amazing. As someone else said this is magical. I pre-ordered Tony’s CD and this is one song I know will be on repeat. Such an honor for Carrie to be asked to be a part of this project, but then if you are looking for perfection Carrie is as good as it gets.
Tony would have asked Taylor if she knew how to sing in tune. But since she is vocally challenged and in her tween spotlight for the moment (until the next tween thing comes along). No artist who is talented vocally would ever duet with Taylor. She’ll be out after this year. She is the Debbie Gibson and Jewel of the 80′s and 90′s.

I hope those “young kids” realize what a priviledge it is to have the opportunity to work with such a timeless legend! I will be buying the album just based on my respect for Tony Bennett-or at least two!

I never thought I’d be buying a Tony Bennett CD, but with the stars he’s got on this one, Duets II, I’ve got to get it! Between Amy Winehouse, and this being her last recorded song, Lady Gaga, and now to hear Carrie Underwood, I never knew she had such a voice. I can’t wait to buy it and hear all the others!!

Totally agree!!!! WHY is she so popular then? I will admit that in a few of her songs, which melodically are not all that different from each other, she comes up with a good lyrical phrase, like “a careful man’s careless daughter,” but she cannot sing well at all. I am just baffled. But it’s always reassuring to me, with respect to my taste and intelligence, that someone else thinks her basically talentless and takes the time to state it on line. So thanks!
