Whether he’s producing for and touring with iconic synth pop legends, providing vocal assistance to his fellow label mates during high-profile TV gigs or simply just doing it in the AM — and find out just what “it” is below — singer-songwriter Frankmusik has been catching our eyes and ears over the past year. (Actually, we’ve been fans since his debut LP was released overseas two years ago.) Today we shine our Fall Music Preview spotlight on the 25-year-old Brit’s upcoming album Do It In The AM. Read on! ALBUM: Do It In The AM (Cherrytree/Interscope), the sophomore LP from Frankmusik (aka Vincent Frank). (His first album Complete Me was released in his home country of the UK in 2009. US fans can find it on iTunes.)

RELEASE DATE: September 27.

SINGLES RELEASED SO FAR: Promo single “The Fear Inside,” the Far East Movement-assisted title track “Do It In The AM” and “No I.D.”, which features Colette Carr. Catch the Grease-inspired video for the latter below:

ALBUM PRODUCERS: Unlike his debut album, which he worked on with a variety of producers ranging from Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Kylie Minogue), Fraser T. Smith (Adele, Taio Cruz) and Mark Taylor (Cher, Enrique Iglesias), all 13 tracks on Do It In The AM were co-produced by Frankmusik and Martin Kierszenbaum. Frank tells us that his fans will be surprised by “just how much different it is” from his first LP.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Prepare to file this album under Friday/Saturday night party jams. Frank clued us in on his favorite memory from making Do It In The AM: “Walking back to my house at 5 a.m. down Sunset Blvd. after a hard night’s work.”

Given that, it’s no surprise track titles like “No Champagne,” “Do It In The AM,” “Brake Lights” and “No I.D.” read like songs for the perfect soundtrack to a rowdy night on the town.

As for the real story of what it is Vincent Frank is doing in the AM, he says, “Its just about me working in the AM on the album. I love working at night.” Suuuuuure.

TOUR PLANS: Frank has been touring as opening act for Erasure, who’s forthcoming LP Tomorrow’s World he produced, for the past two weeks. They just wrapped up two nights at New York’s Terminal 5 last night, and move on to Chicago on Friday. The tour winds down on October 6 (two days after Erasure’s album drops, and three days before Frankmusik’s 26th birthday) in Seattle.

OUR THOUGHTS: Frank has quickly established himself stateside as a sharp songwriter and gifted performer since moving from the UK to Los Angeles two years ago. And while the world woefully overlooked the pop pleasures of Complete Me, we’re hoping Do It In The AM marks this talent’s time to shine.
