Demi Lovato Builds “Skyscraper” (And “Rascacielo”) Live

Demi Lovato’s Unbroken is revealing itself to be the deepest album from a Disney star in some time. As of this week, she’s delivered bona fide bangers (“All Night Long”) and slick R&B, but Demi’s comeback may still best represented by songs like “Skyscraper” — which she sang with searing honesty at the ALMA Awards. You already know she dazzled the red carpet, but you need to see her live performance (under a barren tree bedecked with broken hearts, no less) to know just how much emotion she’s packing into her new performances. Who knew she possessed such vocal firepower? Watch below.

Demi switched the song up a bit for the ALMA performance: she sang the first verse in English, then switched to the Spanish version of the song (called “Rascacielo”), and then back to English for the remainder. Demi’s set was introduced by her little sister, Madison De La Garza, and ALMA show host Eva Longoria.

Demi walked away from the ALMA Awards a winner, taking home the prize for Favorite TV Actress — Leading Role In A Comedy for her starring role in Disney’s Sonny With A Chance. But somehow we think the bigger win came with this performance. Let us know what you thought on Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below.
