T.I. Finally A Free Man After Leaving Halfway House

The sometimes-confusing back-and-forth saga of T.I.’s latest stint in federal custody has apparently come to an end today, as the rapper was released from an Atlanta halfway house early this morning. The New York Times reports that he got into a chauffer-driven car that drove off. Tip (real name: Clifford Harris Jr.) was initially released to a halfway house one month ago, but was yanked back into prison following his use of a luxury tour bus to transport him to the facility. T.I. then went back to the halfway house once again 14 days ago. T.I. was sentenced to 11 months in prison last October after being busted while driving in the West Hollywood area of Los Angeles with marijuana, ecstasy and codeine in his possession — a clear violation of his parole stemming from a previous arrest for gun charges.

VH1 is scheduled to be following T.I.’s journey home from jail for a new 10-episode reality series set to debut on December 5. Also finalized by the rapper: a HarperCollins book deal.
