American Idol‘s most recent winner dropped his debut album today (Godspeed, Scotty!), and next week it’s runner-up Lauren Alaina’s turn to stick her country-lovin’ charm on the masses. Snippets of four songs from Lauren’s LP Wildflower have found their way online, and our first reaction? Two of the four songs have the word “Wildflower” in them. (Didn’t Lauren’s mom ever teach her the wonderful ways of the thesaurus?) As for the actual music, mosey on down below to listen to Lauren’s album cuts and judge for yourself.

The songs in order are:

1. “Georgia Peaches” 2. “The Middle” 3. “She’s A Wildflower” 4. “Tupelo”

Though they’re all easy-listening, twangy tunes easy to tap your toe to, but we can’t find the spark — or a hook — we think the public will latch onto. For comparison’s sake, Idol‘s other country gem Carrie Underwood boasted some serious hits on her debut LP Some Hearts — “Jesus, Take The Wheel” and “Before He Cheats”. Hopefully she’s got some tricks up her sleeve for the second half of her album that we have yet to hear.

Wildflower drops October 11. Based on these snippets, will you be picking it up?
