Though our specialty is reviewing music, we’re often distracted from an artist’s tunes by their amazingly awful album cover. In 2011, there were 10 (mostly) high-profile releases with cover art so ridiculous, so badly designed, and just so straight-up weird that we had to share them with all of you. Last year, MGMT nabbed the highest honor here for their hallucinatory surf’s-up-kitty album cover art for Congratulations — but even that hot mess looked like it should be hanging in a museum compared to this year’s entries. Lady Gaga has become repetitive and grating, and this album color reflects the lazy music writing contained within. Terribly fake photoshop = terrible cover.

People will remember Born This Way (both the cover and the music contained within) as the keystone of one of the most embarrassing years (so far) in pop music ever.
So much of the music released this year has been ear-grating, repetitive, and poorly-sung with poorly-applied instrumentation. For some reason, Gaga seems to be ripping off herself with her second album. Lady Gaga can do better than this, but she doesn’t. And why should she? Dumbass kids who don’t know any better and have no extended musical taste keep buying this crap, so the music industry is going to keep making it.

Outside of Chris Brown’s CD covers looking like crap (though for the record, at least they weren’t photoshopped like half of the covers on here), Chris Brown doesn’t deserve to be on the best of 2011 list. Chris Brown doesn’t even deserve to be on the WORST of 2011 list. All Chris Brown deserves is to be shot in the face for beating up a young woman and being idolized for it. He shouldn’t be mentioned anywhere in mainstream media.
P.S. It takes a hater to hate a hater. Remember that. And expand your musical horizons instead of listening to a hack “Imitation Usher” R&B artist, “Team Breezy” or “Team Whatever-Stupid-Hipster-Nickname-You-Call-Chris-Brown-by-Nowadays”. The guy sucks, and his music sucks too.
For fans of C.B. (#teambreezy), you have to learn that if somebody has an opinion on him (or any other artist you like), they are not being a hater. They are just simply expressing an opinion.

I agree that what he did was wrong. I agree that he should do more to atone for what he did. I ALSO think that people should be given 2nd chances AND that we should stop treating her (Rihanna) like a total victim. She’s gotten by on enough luck and circumstance (because it’s clear to anyone with ears that she can’t sing) to give her anymore of a boost[my opinion].
