The Muppets Cover Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” — What?!

Earlier this year, the Muppets’ classic songs were covered by rock groups from Paramore to Weezer, and now the furry creatures have returned the favor with an a capella version of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The unexpected (yet highly enjoyable) rendition, from the soundtrack to the upcoming Muppets film, features a slew of familiar voices, including Beaker, Sam Eagle and Statler (or is it Waldorf?). It pretty much blows the live tributes from Miley Cyrus out of the water. Below, play the music, light the lights and give us your thoughts on the homage to grunge.

The Muppets’ twist on Nirvana’s alt-rock classic is part-barbershop quartet workout, part-comic routine, and all magic. (We don’t quite know how to feel after hearing a voice we think is Fozzy sing “I know a dirty word.”)
