Rihanna’s ‘Talk That Talk’ Album Snippets & “You Da One” Single Art

November 10th, 2011 // 21 Comments

The past few hours have been a feast of goodies for Rihanna fans starved for any info regarding her upcoming album Talk That Talk (out November 21). First up, her Dr. Luke-produced follow-up single to current chart-topper  “We Found Love” (it’s #1 for a second week on the Hot 100) will be “You Da One”, and it premieres tomorrow before hitting iTunes on Sunday at midnight. But more importantly, short snippets of 11 songs from Talk That Talk are now available for your listening pleasure. Hear them below!

Here’s the album’s tracklist and partial songwriting/producer credits, courtesy of VH1, who calls Talk That Talk the “dirtiest pop record since Madonna’s Erotica“:

1. “You Da One” (produced by Dr. Luke)
2. “Where Have You Been?” (produced by Calvin Harris, written by Dr. Luke & Ester Dean)
3. “We Found Love” (produced by Calvin Harris)
4. “Talk That Talk (featuring Jay-Z)” (produced by Stargate, written by Ester Dean)
5. “Cockiness” (produced by Bangladesh)
6. “Birthday Cake” (produced by The-Dream)
7. “We All Want Love” (written by Ester Dean)
8. “Drunk On Love” (produced by Stargate, written by Ester Dean)
9. “Roc Me Out” (produced by Stargate, written by Ester Dean)
10. “Watch n’ Learn” (produced by Hit-Boy, written by Priscilla Renea)
11. “Farewell” (produced by Big Juice, written by Ester Dean)

And now you can compare that with actual clips of each song.

To us, the immediate standouts so far, aside from the excellent “We Found Love”, of course, are the Dr. Luke/Calvin Harris collabo “Where Have You Been?” and the Stargate-produced “Drunk On Love”.

Which Rihanna songs are grabbing your attention from Talk That Talk?

I can see why she’s put another CD out. These are great. I like it. Like it.

  2. Joshua

Birthday Cake, Where Have You Been, and You Da One are the standouts to me. I actually love EVERYTHING on this album, beside Farewell which is only okay to me.

  3. Oh yes!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOV/21!!!!!!!!!! GO RIIIIIIRIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well…just by a 30 second preview it’s EXTREMELY apparent that quite a few of these songs are overflowing with sexual content!!! I’m not surprised (it’s Rihanna after all..it’s what she’s becoming known for) I was just hopeful that she might have toned it down a bit for this CD. It’s possible to make sexy, appealing, and popular music RiRi without being so explicit!

That being said the album sounds cohesive and a real party! Can’t wait to hear ‘em!

  5. tammy

I love everything Rihanna does…….It is a lot of sex, though……..shes the best ! Im going to cop that album asap!!

  6. Jay

I am being honest, this sounds extremely rushed and mediocre. The standout tracks for me are “Where Have You Been?” “Talk That Talk” “Drunk on Love” the rest are just meh.

You Da One – it sounds like something on Loud – i just can’t think what, maybe Man Down combined with Skin
Where You Have Been – It’s Calvin Harris that produced it so is it a wonder it sounds like We Found Love just slightly more of a ballad
We Found Love – well doesn’t 3 weeks – might be 4 this week – at UK no.1 tell you that
Talk That Talk – i can’t really say, i only heard Jay-Z’s part
Cockiness (Love It) – cross between S&M and Hard
Birthday Cake – Sort of sound like Raining Men
We All Want Love – nice ballad, it sounds sort of like Stupid in Love
Drunk in Love – I Like this one, like an Avril Lavigne style song, another Russian Roulette yay
Roc Me Out – Rude Boy no.2 – it sounds almost identical – needs to be a single!
Watch N Learn – sounds quite like Rockstar 101
Farewell – I’m hoping if you hear more of it – it will be more like a California King Bed ballad

I would say for me – standouts – not including We Found Love would be
You Da One, Where Have You Been, We All Want Love, Roc Me Out & Farewell

BUT i luv all these songs! Go RiRi – RiRiNavy4Life (Guns in the air)

  14. DetroitRed

I love it so far but Rih can do no wrong in my book. She may not be the best singer, but the girl knows good music and this album is gonna sell numbers! Here’s to hoping my hard working lil sex-pot finally gets a #1 record!

  15. Darby Charlotte

Cockiness and Birthday Cake are my favorites. I will definitely be practicing my twerk team moves in the mirror to them.

  18. matt

“cockiness”, “birthday cake”, “roc me out” & “watch ‘n learn” are disgusting. the rest are pretty great (despite the fact that “where have you been?” sounds musically almost identical to the other calvin harris produced song we already know “we found love”. i do love the sampling of the xx’s “intro” on “drunk on love”. i just can’t get overall these awful skanky songs. “rude boy” was kinda pushing it, “s&m” was even more over the top, and these are just terrible. she’s capable of making some really great music, and it’s a shame to see that thrown away on songs that make her sound like a talentless whore.

I like it. Better than some of other music out there of this genre. These are at least catchy.
