Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” video is the polar opposite of her previous over-the-top party clip for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”. We witness an aged Katy flashing back to her artistic long lost love, played by Diego Luna. And while we figured their relationship would end badly, just given the nature of the song, we weren’t quite prepared for the final scenes of the clip. Grab plenty of Kleenex and watch below!
We start off watching Katy in her twilight years in the Floria Sigismondi-directed video, as she and her husband seem to display very little chemistry between them within their California home. While having a cup of coffee, she begins to think back to her younger days, when she lived with a moody artist.
The much-in-love young pair attend a wedding party and spend a lot of their time painting. But an eventual fight leads Diego to storm out and speed off in his Mustang — a drive that proves to be his last.

At six singles in, if this is indeed Katy’s final visual from her latest album, it’s an extremely emotional — and, might we add, perfect — way for her to take a final bow out of her Teenage Dream era.
“The One That Got Away” was produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke, who it turns out is another one that got away as far as Katy’s career is concerned.

I really connect with Katy Perry and her music especially “FIREWORK” it really opened up my eyes and gave me hope and “ET” was a great party hit I love everything you do your music , your style, and your taste. Katy Perry has been one of my favs since the beginning of her carrer and has delivered some of the best pop songs on the planet. “The One That Got Away” is by far one of the best from the album and will sure be a Rocket-Fire hit. This song and video just proves that she can deliver just as good as Rihanna.
Katy Perry is just an amazing artist she blew me away with I Kissed a Girl and Hot N’ Cold! When I saw her hosting the EMA’s a knew she’s going to be huge I just didn’t knew that she will this big! The amazing about her is that she can connect so many people with her music! This video is just amazing , timeless and sad! Sure to reach Nr. 1 on the Hot 100!

Oh my god it made me cry…I love Katy Perry i think she’s a really good artist. And i love Diego Luno, too, so those two together in the video was brilliant. It was so sad! And at the end, when Johnny Cash was playing- that’s the song that my dad used to sing to me when i was little when it was time for bed, which makes it all the more emotional. This is a beautiful video!!!!!
There are few words that describe the amazingness of Katy Perry. Right from the beginning Katy Perry has been a power house, starting off strong and ending stronger. “One of the Boys” is a classic album with amazing songs, that was the first album that I have like every single song with a passion. And her acoustic version on “MTV Unplugged” we’re so real. Then “Teenage Dream” came along and again another album where every song was flat out amazing. Now “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” is out and her 3 new songs are just as, if not better, then her previous. Let’s just say Katy Perry has saved me spending time makin playlists on my iPod! Katy, your amazing can’t wait for your next…
