Dr. Dre Taking Break From Music, So Much For ‘Detox’

Just when we thought Dr. Dre’s Detox — an album that has been almost a decade in the making — may actually see the light of day, the hip-hop mogul has revealed that he’s going on hiatus. “I’m gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I’ve been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I’ve ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks,” Dre told FADER TV outside the launch of his Beats By Dre store in SoHo. “I’m gonna take a little bit of a break.” Watch the interview below.

“I’m never gonna stop music. It’s like air to me,” he clarified. “I’m gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family, until I get that itch to get back in.”

We’re all for Dre spending time with his family, but isn’t Detox completed enough to wrap a bow on it and release it to the public? We mean, there’s been three singles already! Or is the promo tour that goes along with an album release just as stressful and time-consuming as making the record itself?

The question really is, which LP will drop first? Dre’s Detox, or Nicole Scherzinger’s Killer Love? Or are both those albums a lost cause at this point?
