Mariah Carey May Be Managed By Randy Jackson

Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson have a long history together — Jackson has produced, written and appeared on many of Mimi’s songs throughout her career — and it appears the two friends and collaborators are about to get even closer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson is negotiating a deal to officially become Carey’s manager.

Jackson, who most recently produced Mariah’s 2010 Christmas album Merry Christmas II You, has already played manager for acts like Nikka Costa and Van Hunt. The superstar singer was previously managed by Violator Entertainment, which merged with Primary Wave in September.

Mariah’s career has been pretty solid ever since her Emancipation Of Mimi comeback in 2005, though album sales for her three follow-up releases (E=MC2, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel and Merry Christmas II You) have declined since then. Now that Mimi has given birth to her twins, she’s no doubt looking to reignite her career as a leading pop diva, and a new manager — especially one that is already invested in her career — could be a smart move.
