Good news for our dear reader who requested Marina And The Diamonds’ “I Am Not A Robot” for our At Your Request series — a new tune from the Welsh songstress surfaced today, the tinkling, slow-building “Starring Role”, allegedly from her upcoming album Electra Heart. For anyone who has ever felt less than special in a relationship, this song might hit too close to home. Listen below.

Marina And The Diamonds — “Starring Role”

“It almost feels like a joke to play a part / When you are not the starring role in someone else’s heart / You know I’d rather walk alone than play a supporting role / If I can’t get a starring role,” sings Marina, half defiantly, half filled with melancholy.

Marina’s Electra Heart is expected to drop in early 2012. We’re more than anxious to hear the whole thing, as the album’s previously released songs, “Radioactive” and “Fear And Loathing” were brilliant little pieces of modern pop.
