Florence + The Machine surprised fans at their BBC1 Live Lounge performance today with a special nod to Drake, performing an ethereal, string-laden cover of “Take Care”, the title track from Drizzy’s chart-topping new album. It was the latest volley in a fascinating back-and-forth that dates back at least to earlier this year, when the two artists competed for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. Watch Florence’s faithful but dramatic interpretation below.

Before charging into the performance, she notes that the three artists who crafted the original — Drake, Rihanna and Jamie xx — are “three of my absolute favorite artists.” Based on the fireworks from Drake’s surprise performance with Florence earlier this year, we’re fairly certain the feeling is mutual.

We knew Florence was a fan of rap fusion after last week’s SNL performance, but this is a different style entirely. We think she did “Take Care” more than justice.
