As the debut season of the US edition of The X Factor winds down to its finale, the series’ British counterpart ended with girl group Little Mix as this season’s champions. Before the ladies’ name was announced, returning to the X Factor stage was former winner Leona Lewis, who got pretty deary while covering of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” (which was famously covered by Johnny Cash), from her 3-song EP Hurt. Coldplay, however, got everyone’s spirits back up with a bold and enthusiastic performance of their Mylo Xyloto tracks “Charlie Brown” and “Paradise.” Watch both numbers, performed during the finale at the Wembley Arena, below.

“Hurt” is an interesting choice for Leona, but it starts off much too low for her voice, and it takes much too long to build up. (And honestly, even Trent Reznor has said this song belongs to Johnny Cash now. That’s really the only person we want to hear singing it.)
