2011 boasted a whole bunch of Christmas singles — both original and covers of classic tunes — from a variety of music acts: from yuletide regulars The Killers and Mariah Carey to the casts of Glee and American Idol. But whose holiday song has got you feeling the most cheer? In 2010, Idolator’s Annual Holiday Song Poll resulted with Manchester duo Hurts winning with 47% of the vote (for their single “All I Want For Christmas Is New Years”), beating out big pop acts like Mariah, Kylie Minogue and Rihanna. Will another underdog claim the Christmastime championship this year? (UPDATE: We’ve announced the winner!)
Before you cast your vote, click on the below links to get one last listen to each holiday tune. (And in case you’re wondering, we narrowed it down to just one song per artist, so Justin Bieber’s prolific collection of Christmastime melodies isn’t clogging the whole list. Sorry, Beliebers!)
Justin Bieber, “Mistletoe”
Mariah Carey and John Legend, “When Christmas Comes”
Glee Cast, “Extraordinary Merry Christmas”
Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”
Jackie Evancho, “Believe”
The Killers, “The Cowboy’s Christmas Ball”
Kelly Clarkson, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”
Lady Gaga, “White Christmas”
So which holiday anthem made you feel the warmest and fuzziest this season? Vote below, and look out for the results posted right before Christmas!

It has to end before Christmas, I have it in print.
The longer it runs the farther ahead Jackie will be.
If Mariah Carey, et al, Glee Cast, et al, Kelley Clarkson, and Haley Rinehardt, et al, all have more votes than The Biebs, but have 0% of the total, how come The Biebs, with the fewest votes of all, has 1 % of the total votes? Imagine, a what, now 17 (?) year old boy, with the voice of a teen age girl, in a competition with an 11 year old girl with the voice of a mature woman — how pathetic!
Calculate as follows:
Total votes 298725 = 2987.25 votes pr %.
Jackie 243901 votes / 2987.25 = 81.647 % rounded to 82 %
Lady Gaga 45604 votes / 2987.25 = 15.266 % rounded to 15 %
The Killers 6065 votes / 2987.25 = 2.030 % rounded to 2 %
The rest 3155 votes / 2987.25 = 1.056 % rounded to 1 %
The last % is put on the last name on the list to make the sum 100 %.
Sloppy programming for the results display, IMO. If they’re going to round for visually easy percentages and then tack on something to make the percentages add up (so as not to have to explain that they didn’t because of rounding), then they should have tacked the extra percent(s) on each of those who lost the largest fraction of a percent to rounding until all the lost percent are accounted for. That would at least have the percentages and absolute numbers not come out in conflicting orders.
As for Bieber…I’ve voted for Jackie; but Beiber does what he set out to do, well enough. Sadly, he didn’t aim to do more than what worked for him when it wasn’t so many years past believable as cute.
But Jackie also does what _she_ set out to do, as in the spoken part of “To Believe”: “I promise, I’ll do the very best I can”. An once in a century (if that) gift plus a commitment to put it to the best use beats a lesser gift, but particularly when it’s underutilized.
I would like to know when the voting ends too. I love Jackie Evancho. I don’t know Lady GaGa but I know Jackie likes her and that’s ok,I just think Jackie has a magical voice for me with her christmas song.
When does the voting end?
I’m seeing a vote count updated but I’m not getting a vote screen.
Is voting over? I was just getting warmed up!
I sent Idolator a different header picture to use for this:
http://gallery.me.com/chaslights/100021
But I’m a amazed that idolator.com had Jackie as a choice at all. Kudos!
A lot of people are underestimating what this young lady is bringing to the music industry. David Foster, Robert Redford, Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump, Muhammad Ali, Tony Bennett, and Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos (among many others) know…
Can someone please tell me why the count for Jackie keeps changing, yet the total percentages don’t change?
I hate to see Jackie in a competition with all of the current ‘pop’ artists of the day, but I guess that cant be helped. She just seems to be in a totally diferent category. I hope it can stay that way (at least for a few years) maybe. She’s a little giant when she takes the stage and sings in front of a live orchestra. oh yes…America does have talent.
