Geez, Katy Perry — of all the awards shows to pull out of, the 38th annual People’s Choice Awards should probably not have been at the top of your list. The no-show California girl, who is going through a divorce from soon-to-be-ex Russell Brand, swept the music categories, including Favorite Female, Favorite Song, Favorite Tour Headliner and Favorite Music Video. She also nabbed a television win for Favorite TV Guest Star, for her stint on How I Met Your Mother. Other music-related TV wins at this year’s People’s Choice Awards included Glee star Lea Michele for Favorite TV Actress and American Idol for Favorite TV Competition Show.

In the actual music categories, Adele, her best-selling album 21 and its hit singles were all shut out in favor of Perry. (Lady Gaga’s Born This Way actually won Favorite Album Of The Year, while Katy’s “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” were the top tunes at the awards gig.)

Favorite Pop Artist winner Demi Lovato was one of the night’s performers. The 19-year-old belted out her Unbroken single “Give Your Heart A Break”.
