Selena Gomez & The Scene Are Taking A Break From Music

Tonight is the series finale of Selena Gomez’s The Wizards Of Waverly Place, but saying goodbye to her Disney show doesn’t mean Selena will spend more time making music. “We’re going to take a break from music,” Gomez told E! News about her current plans. “My band and I are going to chill on that for a second. I’ll be doing two films in the beginning of [2012], which I’m excited about. They are both different and things I’ve never played before and will be fun for me.”

One of the films Selena will start in will be Spring Breakers, which revolves around college girls who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break. They land in jail, and become entangled with the drug and arms dealer who bails them out. James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts are also attached to the film, which will be directed by Harmony Korine, the writer of the controversial 90s indie movie Kids.

The other film is a project called Hot Mess, about four girls who are “desperately trying to avoid becoming the hot messes they are destined to be.” The Scene has no movie roles lined up, as far as we know.

Are you bummed about Selena taking a hiatus from music? We’re still humming “Love You Like A Love Song” ourselves. Even without releasing a new album in 2012, we’re sure Ms. Gomez will still be interesting enough to be constantly Googled.
