Iggy Azalea Takes On Nicki Minaj’s “Roman In Moscow”

January 16th, 2012 // 4 Comments

Australian sensation Iggy Azalea hops from the land down under to the Russian motherland, spitting her own rhymes over Nicki Minaj’s stomper “Roman In Moscow.” The “Last Song” upstart takes on a familiar theme, throwing shade on her critics — while dropping clever references Hustle & Flow and the unraveling of The-Dream’s marriage to Christina Milian. Hear Iggy throw her haters on the barbie below.

Who needs a wicked alter ego (Nicki’s Roman Zolanski) when your actual persona is so volatile? Iggy rides the original beat (produced by Street Runner and Sarom Soundz) with a hyperkinetic flow that recalls Nicki herself. Is Ms. Azalea ready to bloom? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments.

  1. yeah...

“Roman in Moscow” has such a complex beat. Nicki was able to master the track because of her unique delivery and flow, which, despite what her many haters will say, is one of the best in the game. This poor Iggy girl, however, was just completely swallowed by the beat.

  2. You're Ratchet

I really was like, this is dope, when I first heard it. And after hearing her other music, I liked her.

But then I watched an interview…. and I just decided to listened to this again, and she sounds NOTHING like she does when she’s talking. It sounds way too forced.

Iggy: you can spit, but as someone who’s honestly rooting for you, I’d like to hear more authenticity in your voice and don’t try to “act black,” it’s insulting.

  3. Gee
