Ready to enter pop star mode? Electronic Arts announced today that the company is collaborating with People’s Choice Award winner Katy Perry on a series of games that will feature the singer within the Sims franchise, including a collector’s edition of the upcoming The Sims 3: Showtime (out in March). “I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim,” Perry said in a statement. What a character! The Guardian notes that the Grammy nominee is working with The Sims Studio to create accessories, clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props for the games that “celebrate the imagination that she brings to her performances, music videos and life”.

Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music for Electronic Arts, stated the following: “Today marks the start of the most integrated and exciting collaboration with any artist in the history of The Sims. No performer could better represent the humour and fun of The Sims brand.”

Hmmm. Katy Perry as a Sims — will it be creepy or genius? Fingers crossed for the best possible combo of both!

Now, let’s watch video game fan Katy’s previous Electronic Arts collaboration — “Hot N Cold” sung in Simlish, for The Sims 2:
