Believe it or not, not everyone is blasting Lana Del Rey’s highly-buzzed-about Saturday Night Live performance from over the weekend. Daniel Radcliffe, who hosted the episode in which Del Rey appeared, was asked about the “Video Games” singer’s performance while attending the BAFTA nominations, and the boy who played The Boy Who Lived came to her defense.

“It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly,” said Radcliffe. “I also think people are making it about things other than the performance. If you read what people are saying about her online, it’s all about her past and her family and stuff that’s nobody else’s business.”

Radcliffe added, “I don’t think it warranted anywhere near that reaction.”

What a gent! (Though we must point out, he didn’t actually say it was a good performance.” And many of the critical reviews we were able to find were basing their judgement on Lana’s vocals, not her background. But we won’t hold that against him.)

Does Harry Potter have a point, or do you think he was just being polite? And are you planning to pick up Lana’s debut LP Born To Die on January 31? Why not watch her SNL performance again (this time in HD!) and see if her performance has gotten any better with time:
