Adele may have ruled the school when it came to digital sales in the US last year, but it was Bruno Mars who blew up worldwide like a, well, grenade. In 2011, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter’s lovey-dovey mid-tempo jam “Just The Way You Are” wound up being the best-selling song worldwide, with sales of 12.5 million digital copies, according to The Press Association. And right behind that Bruno single was another, which sold 10.2 million copies: “Grenade”. Mars, in fact, had three tunes in the Top 10 of the worldwide best-sellers ranking, including his Doo-Wops & Hooligans single “The Lazy Song”, which came in at #10 (6.5 million).

Other tracks that got the globe shuffling: LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” (#5), Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor” (#4) and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” (#6). Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”, the top song in the States in 2011, registered at #5.

In perhaps what is no surprise, seven of the 10 songs listed below charted atop the Billboard Hot 100.
