As the pop faithful rally to come to grips with the death of Whitney Houston, we thought we would offer consolidation. The six-time Grammy winner left behind a remarkable musical legacy, all starting with that jaw-dropping, rafter-raising voice. Perhaps no one before (or since) has measured up to Whitney Houston at her peak, and the various artists who’ve covered her songs haven’t really tried. (By some measure, anyone tackling the National Anthem has also been covering her). But they have performed renditions of her hits that serve to remind us just how massive an impact she made on the pop world. And how massive an emptiness she leaves behind. Check below for some of our favorite Whitney Houston covers.

Kelly Clarkson — “Queen Of The Night”

Jessie J — “I Have Nothing”

Katy Perry — “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”

Christina Aguilera — “Run To You”

Keri Hilson — “I Have Nothing”

Jennifer Hudson — “I Have Nothing”

Popping Up artists Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. — “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”
