Madonna Calls ‘MDNA’ “Unapologetically Happy”

While one early review of MDNA told us that Madonna’s new album was “dark,” apparently that isn’t the way Madge sees it: in a recent interview with IN Toronto, she calls her latest LP “unapologetically happy.” (The first two singles sure sound chipper to us, though the snippet of “I’m Addicted” we heard earlier today is a shade darker.) Madonna spoke to the Canadian rag about a number of topics ranging from Elton John’s beef to her directorial effort W.E. “I am not a royal,” she says of comparisons between herself and the film’s subjects. Well, Queen of Pop, we beg to differ. See what else she said about MDNA below.

“I wanted to make an album that was unapologetically happy. I think we all need to dance a bit more these days. The world needs a breather, and [DJ/producer] Martin [Solveig] knows how to put a smile on people’s faces. And, of course, I have my partner-in-crime, William Orbit, helping me out with the substance. MDNA is a good hybrid of the introspective and fun.”

Sounds like the perfect mix to us! Read the full piece in IN Toronto here, then let us know what vibe you’re hoping for from Madonna’s latest on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments.
