It’s not unusual to see up-and-coming pop artists try and channel bigger stars when trying to gain an audience (see Jessie J and “Domino”, which we still can’t believe wasn’t recorded by Katy Perry). But this is ridiculous. In the video for her single “R.I.P.”, British singer Rita Ora comes off like a second-hand Rihanna, from her wardrobe to the Talk That Talk-cribbing song itself. Considering the tune was loaned from RiRi’s “What’s My Name” partner Drake from his song “I’m Ready For You” (originally written for Rihanna’s Loud), is there anything original going on here? Her other single, “How We Do (Party)” is much less Rihanna-esque, so there’s hope. (Though it does sample Notorious B.I.G.’s “Bullshit and Party”… or is that David Guetta and 50 Cent’s club banger of the same name? Whatever it is, she sounds a mix of Jessie J and Karmin here.)

The song is BLAND, tbh you can hear Rihanna in it, and even if she’s not the best vocalist she would had done a better job with the song
And no, the comparation isn’t a fail, the moves, the scenario, the style, everything screams Rihanna, i’m sorry but it is the truth, even if Rihanna didn’t “create” that style, it is hers now, so yeah this looks like a Rihanna wannabe, just much less interesting
I agree that Rita Ora is blatently copying Rihanna.Recently in glamour magazine she says shes “sick of people making comparisons to Rihanna”. If she wants the comparisons to stop developing her own style is a good place to start.EVERYTHING from the hair,lipstick,jewellery,clothes are taken from Rihanna its ridiculous!!
The other thing is that just because she grew up in Ladbroke Grove she thinks that shes from the streets and shes a ‘hood chick’.Maybe she grew up on an estate but that dosent make her steet or a hood chick.Because shes signed to Roc Nation she thinks she is.Her family own a buisness and sent her to private school.Reality check Rita that makes you middle class so at least own that and stop trying to be something that your not!!

Rita has a great voice (not based on R.I.P), personally I never thought much of Rihanna’s voice…
She is under Jay-Z label, and when an artist is new they don’t have 100% creative input on their image and sound…more than likely the song was meant for Rihanna, later past down to Rita; there are a lot of people behind the scene, the same people that most likely put together Rihanna’s so called “original” image. It’s somewhat unfair to judge Rita as a puppet based on one song/video.

And Rita would sing Rihanna under a table. The song is blah but this is her first video. Reminds the Rihanna fans when Rihyonce straight jacked the baby boy video down the down sequence and even used the same dancers and choreographer and moves. Wow. Rita has had this style for AGES. It is only recently that Rihanna chose to go blonde ala Rita and basically hijacked Rita’s wadrobe and style. I’m sorry, look at Rihanna 6 or 7 months ago. Her style was nothing like that. But Rita has had the style for ages. Plus Rita is the more talented vocalist without a doubt.
Rita does have her originality. Go type her 2010 intro by Roc Nation and you’ll see she had the same look two years ago while Rihanna was busy trying to become Ariel, the Little Mermaid. The blonde look, heavy liner, bold lips, heavy gold jewelry, the 90′s clothes is her shtick – like I said look up Rita Ora 2010. It is Rihanna that jumped on this bandwagon in February, first dying her hair blonde, then changing her style to 90′s because she knows paps will follow her anywhere and that will lead people to believe RiRi started the style, but she did not and she is being unfair by stealing Rita’s style and not letting her enjoy her moment. The “You Da One” video, believe it or not, was inspired by this exact 90′s style that Rita’s been rocking for years. Of course people don’t know that yet, because Rita is literally brand new and so they will automatically think she’s jacking RiRi, but it’s the other way around.. Some research will help you guys.

Rita has actually been signed to Roc Nation since 2009. I feel like Rihanna has probably been jacking her swag for a long time but it seems like it’s the other way around because Rita only just started releasing music a few months ago. Think about it: Rihanna only dyed her hair blonde and started rocking the grungy, ripped denim and plaid shirts look when Rita started releasing music. She even posted a twitpic of a pair of shoes she bought like a week after Rita posted one of her in the same shoes. I think she’s intimidated by Rita and doesn’t want the competition, and what better way to do that than to make Rita look like a wannabe? I wouldn’t count this girl out, though.
