Lily Allen announced her semi-retirement from pop stardom after she wrapped up touring for her sophomore release, It’s Not Me, It’s You, but she has definitely kept busy the last few years. Besides marrying her beau Sam Cooper and delivering her first child, Ethel Mary, last November, Allen has tried her hand running a clothing boutique store and wrote the songs for the upcoming Bridget Jones’ Diary musical. Despite all these new projects, it looks like Allen is finally ready to begin work on her third album.
The singer-songwriter spotted outside a studio in London last week, where she is working on new material. “Lily has been in the studio trying different sounds and writing new tracks,” a source told UK gossip mag The Daily Star. “She’s not at a stage where she can start recording but the new album is definitely underway and there’s a chance it could be released early next year.”
“Her life has changed so much since her last album and she now has a different perspective,” they continue. “Lily wants a more mature sound and is penning tracks about Ethel and Sam.”
The story originated at a gossip mag, so take the news with a grain of salt. (We all know just being seen inside a studio doesn’t exactly mean squat.) But we really hope this one’s true!
